On-Site Sewage Maintenance Inspections – Changes to the Building Code The Building Code has been amended by O.Reg 315/10 to establish and govern mandatory on-site sewage system maintenance inspection programs in certain areas and to govern discretionary on-site sewage system maintenance inspection programs established by principal authorities. Dates of Building Code Changes “In force” dates have been established for all legislative changes made to the Building Code Act, 1992 and related December 2009 Code amendments. Sprinkler Requirements Building permits applied for on or after April 1, 2010 must comply with the Building Code’s sprinkler requirements. The Building Code Energy Advisory Council The Building Code Energy Advisory Council has been established to advise the Minister on Green Energy initiatives that can be implemented through the Building Code. Changes to the Building Code Act and the Building Code The Building Code Act, 1992 and the Building Code have been amended to update, clarify and modify technical and administrative requirements. Building Code Examination Update The Building Code Examination Update has been completed. The Ministry is receiving applications for new examinations. Applicable Law The new Renewable Energy Approval created under the Green Energy Act has been added to the Building Code list of applicable law.
